How much do I love well-characterized Wilson-hurt/House-comfort stories? How much do I love your work? How much does that make me love this piece? *opens arms wide* Thiiiis much.

Love your insight about Chase falling between the extremes of Cameron and Foreman on the scale of understanding House (though he doesn't see his own biases). Love Foreman and House's conversation (and Cuddy's trick!). Love House and Wilson's conversation even more. And Wilson and Alejandro? *wibble* And how it takes all that time for House to let out his anger and confess his fear – so powerful, so incisive.

Cripes, I don't even know where to start on all you cover here. How about the part where Wilson gripes about how he couldn't possibly have any idea what it's like to watch his friend nearly die? Or the generic you/specific you/$100 million conversation? Or the very end? They'll never, ever talk directly about how they feel about each other, but dialogue like that lets them come pretty damn close.

Randomness:

"And they say that the Grinch's heart grew three sizes that day," Foreman muttered.

Gah! Talk about coincidence, I wrote a ficlet last month that I just posted this morning with a House/Grinch reference and I hummed "You're a mean one, Dr. House," in my author's notes. I even flipped through the book on Saturday contemplating a full-out parody. *shakes head*

"I have a freakishly high pain threshold,"
Thus also explaining his tolerance for House. :)

"That's your secret friendship club name." *grin*
